autumn
the fall…
rustling leaves vacate bough
saying goodbye for now.
making place for a new life
to spring and come…
to serve and strive.
the leaves descend
in all their glory
wheezing their last
falling from tree
blending with elements vast.
so long as it was there
it served the promised land
breathing in the venom
tenaciously it did stand.
different shades and hues
it went through
facing sunshine and storm
clime dusty, cold and warm.
leaving the bough it wonders
maybe it’ll fall in the lake
and float to shore yonder
or lie on the boulevard
and be trampled by wayfarers.
but it frets not.
embracing the gales
it wafts in glee.
gloriously it did live
and magnificently fall!
